REGISTRATION OF SUPER-DUPER.
Registration is required for the use of Super-Duper programs,
SD (for HF) and SDV ( for VHF), by individuals or groups.
A group or club registration does NOT entitle group or club
members to use the programs under their own callsigns.
You are registered only if your callsign is shown on the opening
screen following the words "Licensed to". When you register you
will receive a copy of the latest version of the program
identified with your callsign, together with a printed manual,
and you'll be entitled to support for 12 months.
This form may be used to register either or both programs.
Registration is the equivalent of taking out a licence to use
the programs, and each registration is associated with a
specific individual or group - identified by callsign.
When you register as a user of Super-Duper, you are not buying
software. You are buying a licence to use software. I own the
software. The licence is non-exclusive and non-transferrable.
By non-exclusive, I mean that I may grant similar licences to
other purchasers. By non-transferrable, I mean that the licence
holder is obliged not to give, lend, transfer or assign the
licence to anyone else.
Registered users have aditional rights. I provide support and
upgrades, on request, for a twelve month period - on receipt
of a blank formatted 3.5" disk together with 2 IRCs (UK), or
3 IRCs elsewhere, and a return addressed envelope. At the end
of that period I invite users to renew their registration, at
reduced cost, and thereby qualify for on-going support and
updates for a further 12 months. If users prefer not to renew
their registration, they are still licensed to use whatever
version of the program they already have, under the callsign
to which it was registered. Registered users of SD (HF) also
get separate programs optimised for the RSGB Commonwealth
Contest (SDC) and for the UBA Contest (SDU). Other than for
copies of SD registered to DEMO, a user's obligation not to give,
lend, transfer or assign the software to anyone else continues
whether or not he/she renews his/her registration.
Once again, when you register, you are granted a licence which
gives you the right to use my software, but not to give, lend,
transfer or assign it to anyone else. In this respect your
rights, and obligations, correspond to those you receive when
you purchase an Amateur Radio Licence or a TV Licence. Infringement
of these rights or obligations is an offence and is variously
called piracy, sponging or theft. Most of us have experience of
pirates, spongers and thieves.
In general, licence costs are fixed and independent of the use
made of the rights conferred by the licence. For example, you
can't get a cheaper TV licence just because you only watch
certain programmes. Your decision to purchase, or not to
purchase, is determined on the basis of whether or not, for you,
the licence represents value for money.
With regard to the question of whether or not Super-Duper is
value for money, please compare the registration fee to the
time you save by using Super-Duper and the value you place
upon your time.
REMINDER: A group or club registration does NOT entitle group
or club members to use the programs under their own callsigns.
At present, there is no copy protection on the program and
registered users may make copies for backup purposes only.
I know and you know that I'm taking a risk by releasing Super-
Duper without copy protection. I've spent hundreds of hours
developing and testing this program and I don't like being
ripped off. So, if someone asks you for a copy of the program,
other than one licensed to "DEMO", please realise that he or
she is asking you to steal. Give them my name and address so
that they can order a copy for themselves. Super-Duper is a
bargain at the price!
If you can't afford to register, then don't use the software!
